Why do so many people believe in the theory of evolution? Christina, Joe, Leslie, Holly, Mandy, Lauren Crystal and Renee of Swartz Creek, MI
Dear Friends:
That is a difficult question to answer, because people don't always have clear reasons for what they believe. There are a few reasons, though, that explain why a lot of people believe in evolution. Some people believe in evolution because that's all they know. In school, at home, on T.V. everywhere they look that is all they hear. They don't know there are problems with the theory, or that there are good reasons for believing that God created everything.
Other people believe in evolution because they have studied science and believe the evidence supports the theory. Often, these people have not considered the wonderful evidence for creation. Sadly, some people believe in evolution because they think it supports their denial of God's existence. If evolution is true, then you don't need God to make the world and all its life.
To me, the world doesn't look like something that accidentally exploded into existence billions of years ago. The evidence of God's wise design is everywhere I look (see Romans 1:20)!
